Barred from performing with a female performer, I turned instead to video, and to a language I did not speak.

A deaf friend taught me to see communication differently, sign language not only as speech, but as a vessel for what goes unheard: overlooked voices, unspoken stories, unwritten words. In its nuanced movements and emotive precision, sign language opens a window onto the depth of human experience.
