Love and Land
Drawing inspiration from Eric Rohmer’s The Green Ray and the double slit experiment in quantum physics, my project blends science and emotion. Through an exploration of the interplay between territory, the body, and natural phenomena, I seek to broaden our understanding of physical relationships. The Green Ray (French: Le Rayon vert) is a 1882 Jules Verne novel named after an optical phenomenon. The novel inspired Rohmer’s 1986 film of the same name. Green flashes and rays occur due to atmospheric refraction, which separates sunlight into different colors. Green flashes, often enhanced by mirages, result from this light refraction. In Verne’s novel, seeing a green flash reveals one’s innermost thoughts.
