Drawing on Eric Rohmer’s The Green Ray and the double-slit experiment in quantum physics, this project weaves together science and emotion, exploring the interplay between territory, body, and natural phenomenon to expand our understanding of physical relationships. The Green Ray (Le Rayon vert), a Jules Verne novel from 1882 named after the optical phenomenon, inspired Rohmer’s 1986 film of the same title. Green flashes occur through atmospheric refraction, sunlight splitting into color at the horizon, often intensified by mirage. In Verne’s novel, to witness a green flash is to see one’s innermost thoughts revealed.
